So I’m not sure if I’m breaking the rules, but I couldn’t settle on one age. So i settled on current + multiple.

Original character named Chapel. He’s an ornery guy who generally hates life and everyone wants to see him dead or murdered in some form or another. It was neat going through ages, especially since I don’t often find myself drawing teenagers or children.

King Nightmare as … Prince Nightmare!

The King is an original character and I doubt that there is another human form than its ”adult”-appearance, since it is more of a personified dread than a real being. It puts on a “human suit” to lure people into false safety. I found the idea interesting to figure out, how he might have worked as a child-character.

This is his original design. And this is a glorious rendition by the ever amazing rennerei.

My all time favourite kids show is Rugrats, And weirdly I always liked Angelica, even if she was a devil child. I always imagined her growning up to be a good mum, mainly not following in her mothers example and being around/warm. Any who, this is my imagineing of that.

Glad to see WAC is back! I love seeing submissions every week, so I finally did one of my own!

Dee Dee is the irksome elder sister of Dexter on the late-90s show Dexter’s Lab. The siblings are elementary school-aged on the show, but I like to think Dee Dee has been absent-mindedly torturing Dexter for years before that. And probably for years after that, too. I just drew the former.

Weekly Art Challenge #66: (May 20th ~ May 26th)

Draw any character, at another age!

Time changes everything! Especially people, inside and out. This week, let’s focus on the effects that time has on exteriors. Take a character, be it yours or another’s, and imagine them at an age that you normally wouldn’t! Depict your 13 year old children as grandparents, your 87 year old characters as toddlers. Mix up their age however you like, but make sure that you can see the difference!

Some things to note:

Aging is about more than just growing. Take the opportunity to understand how wrinkles form, or how the structure of a child’s face differs from an adult’s. And there’s more to it even than that! Scars, styles, fitness and personality, nothing is immune to a good weathering by life. Consider every detail in your age reassignment!
Any media is acceptable!
Original characters are welcome, and so is fan art! Tell us a little about the character you chose in your submission, especially what their usual age is.
I encourage you to do this challenge for incredible multitudes of characters, but please, limit your submissions to two for this challenge.

Challenges submitted are valid up to 11:59PM on SUNDAY!

When I was a kid, in the summer, one of my favorite things to do was grab an old book and fall asleep reading it on a hammock strung up between the trees and ivy outside.

There’s a very particular smell that comes with all those things strung together that I’ll never forget! So, I tried to capture that a bit.

I have a graphic diary since 2008, most of it is German, I only have a few translated or originally written in English (and my plans to translate them all get sabotaged by my tight schedule).

It never occured to me to do a comic for WAC, but since it was mentioned in the challenge, I thought I might combine my diary comic with WAC. Hope that is ok.

Also, I inked this with my new ink, Deleter Black 5, and the smell reminds me of an old, dank cellar. I hope it’s not the ink gone bad but the way it’s supposed to smell.

Smells are so important to me. I tend to smell a lot of things conciously and I get easily offended by intense, sweet smells like urine, rot or thick perfumes…

First submission wooo. I didn’t get to execute it as well as I wished but here it is anyways. I remember the first thing I smelled when I came back to my grandparent’s home for my grandfather’s funeral was this sickly sweet smell. it was slightly unpleasant but you couldn’t smell it too much because it was still winter in Japan. I soon found out it probably smelt that way because my grandpa was there in his casket packed with dry ice. lol. Anyways any constructive critique is welcome.

fresh mowed grass reminds me of my mom’s garden from where i spent the first eight years of my life. i kind of fudged the details here, but i kept the important things; her flowers, her tree, and the grapevines that grew on our back fence.

Weekly Art Challenge #65: (April 8th ~ April 14th)

Bringing back a memory… with a scent.

Do you ever associate smells of certain things to memories in the past? Maybe a bubbling pot of soup reminds you of your grandmother? Or does the smell of a dusty book remind you of a childhood friend? That’s what we’re going to draw this week!

Some things to note:

Please describe your memory in illustrative form! Use any media or subject that will get your memory across.
Have some fun with this~ Make your illustration either as a narrative or a mini comic!
Having a hard time with a memory? What about how a certain smell makes you think? Makes you feel?
I always promote being productive, but please limit your submissions to two illustrations for this challenge.

Challenges submitted are valid up to 11:59PM on SUNDAY!

For the weekly art challenge 64 - creating a character based on “Diamond”

I was an avid stone collector, when I was younger. When I finally got a diamond in my collection, the experience was not as grand as I expected: It was a raw diamond, uncut, greenish, very unlike the clip art-paint-diamond i used to paste all over my collection.

Diamonds are cruel stones, even when cut they’re just as pretty as the light arround them allows them to be.

Circumstances prevented me finding the time to turn this biro scribble into a more professional looking digital piece. However I wanted to send in this little guy regardless as I like his moodiness!
